Drue Hackenberg Dominates With 16 K's
5 months agoAtlanta Braves pitching prospect Drue Hackenberg had a night to remember for Double-A Mississippi on Sunday. The right-hander was on top of his game with seven innings of one-run ball, in which he allowed three hits with no walks and a 2024 MiLB single-game record 16 strikeouts. It was an incredible performance for the Braves No. 9 prospect per MLB Pipeline. It was only his fourth start in Double-A, as he opened the season for High-A Rome. Between the two levels, Hackenberg has combined for a 3.59 ERA with 95 strikeouts in 80 1/3 innings over 16 starts. Hackenberg still has some more work to do before getting to the big leagues with a projected ETA of 2026, but Sunday's dominant performance is a reminder why the Braves paid more than the slotted value for last years second-round pick. For now, he should only be of interest of managers in dynasty leagues.
