Doug Baldwin 2018 Outlook: Another WR1 Season On The Way
6 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks could be a very different team in 2018. We are used to seeing a Seahawks defense that can shut down any opponent and control the game. After some major changes this off-season, the Seahawks could be playing in a negative game script quite often in the new NFC West that includes a high-powered Los Angeles Rams and upstart San Francisco 49ers. All of this means Doug Baldwin could be in for a career year.
In PPR leagues, only four players have been a WR1 each of the last three seasons. Those receivers are Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald and Baldwin. That’s pretty good company to be in for Baldwin who isn’t typically viewed as a WR1. It’s going to be four straight WR1 seasons after 2018 though.
The Seahawks cut ties with Paul Richardson and Jimmy Graham this off-season leaving Brown as their most dynamic pass catcher. Baldwin could also be looking at only his second season, and first since 2015, with double digit touchdowns. Graham and Richardson hauled in 16 touchdowns between them and someone is going to need to take those. Russell Wilson will be throwing a lot this season and Baldwin will be on the other end of those passes more often than not. If you can get him as your WR2, you’re drafting well.
