Dion Waiters 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoMiami Heat shooting guard Dion Waiters has been prone to injuries throughout his seven-year NBA career and 2018-19 was no different when he logged only 44 games. It took him until January to make his season debut after nursing his left ankle for close to 12 months. The left ankle had been bothering him for many years, so hopefully, Waiters now feels fully fit and ready to contribute. He's so far had only two seasons in which he has managed to play in at least 70 games. When healthy, Waiters in an exciting player who can score in bunches and provide energy for the rest of the squad. He had a nice run to cap off last season, averaging 13.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 28 minutes after the All-Star break, shooting close to 40 percent from downtown. Jimmy Butler will occupy the starting spot at the shooting guard position, but Waiters looks set to get plenty of minutes in the post-Dwyane Wade era. The last time Waiters managed to average at least 30 minutes per game for the season, he offered a solid 14-4-3 line and we can expect him to hover around the same numbers in 2019-20.
