DeMar DeRozan 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoSan Antonio Spurs shooting guard/small forward DeMar DeRozan had an interesting season that had him average 27.9 points in the season’s opening month to never averaging more than 22.4 points in a month the rest of the year. DeRozan did see career-high numbers of 6.2 assists and 6.0 rebounds, yet his 1.1 makes from three from 2017-18 dwindled to just 0.1 a night last season. The uptick in dimes is easily linked to the Spurs being shorthanded in the guard department and he did shoot a career-high 48.1% from the floor overall. This season should see his assists take a hit, but possibly even up his field-goal percentage with more healthier weapons on the floor and his scoring should increase as well. DeRozan can be tough to own at times, but he often slips in drafts and if grabbed in the middle rounds, you could actually end up with a top-30 player come season’s end. Just make sure to grab a couple extra long-range threats to make up for his near reduced three-point shooting.
