Delanie Walker 2019 Outlook: Veteran Looks To Bounce Back From Injury
6 years agoTennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker enjoyed a four-year stretch from 2014-2017 where he was one of the best fantasy tight ends in the game. That streak ended in 2018, however, when a broken ankle suffered in Week 1 ended his season prematurely. Walker is still rehabbing the ankle, although he is expected to be ready by the start of the 2019 season. The veteran tight end is a bit of a risky proposition in fantasy, as he will be 35 by the start of the season and is coming off of a major injury. The Titans offense is also a question mark in 2019 as quarterback Marcus Mariota has failed to impress and has struggled with injuries of his own. Wide receivers Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, and rookie A.J. Brown could also eat into Walker's targets, which were regularly above 100 in his glory days. There's also a chance Tennessee skews run-heavy after running back Derrick Henry's last-season success. Those who draft Walker should be sure to pair him with another, high-floor option at the position in case his return to the field does not go smoothly. Walker is not a player who fantasy owners should be targeting aggressively in fantasy drafts. If he slips to a spot where he becomes a value, then it would merit taking a chance on him.
