Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard will miss Monday's matchup against Vancouver with an upper-body injury. He will miss his first game of the season and Montreal considers Savard day-to-day. Savard has been a shot-blocking machine for Montreal, throwing himself in front of 74 shots in 24 games, and he has chipped in a bit offensively as well, registering eight points. The 32-year-old has been skating on the first defensive pairing with Mike Matheson and is averaging the second-most minutes on the team, so Savard's absence is set to leave a significant gap on the Canadiens blue line. With another game coming up on Tuesday, it's possible that he will be forced to miss multiple games.--Taavi Pailk
