David Price Finishes First Half With Solid Start
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price made it just five innings Sunday after allowing one run on four hits, while striking out six and walking two in a 6-3 win over the Tigers. He needed 99 pitches to get through the outing but he continued his string of allowing two or less runs in four straight outings. Price has now earned a win in three straight starts and is 7-2 on the year with 3.24 ERA. In 83 1/3 first half innings, he's piled up a 95/21 K/BB and has been a steady source of innings for Boston. The 33-year-old has proved to be a viable fantasy option so far, and his 2.90 FIP seems to point that his second half could be just as strong. While the Red Sox may limit his innings down the stretch to save him for the postseason, Price deserves to be in your lineup in most matchups.
