6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder David Dahl carried the team's offense in their win over the Giants on Wednesday when he lifted a shot over the left-center wall for a grand slam in the top of the third inning. Dahl's opposite-field drive on the full-count fastball broke the game open and allowed Colorado's pitching staff to cruise to victory. It's Dahl's third home run in four days, all of which have come on the road at notoriously pitcher-friendly parks. He'll now head back to the friendly confines of Coors Field, where his batting average is 127 points higher. If Dahl can start adding more homers to his arsenal, he could be one of the best values of the second half of the season.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller

1 year agoFree-agent outfielder David Dahl agreed to a minor-league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, pending a physical. Dahl played in only four games at the major-league level in 2023 with the San Diego Padres before inking a minors pact with the Los Angeles Dodgers in June. The 29-year-old former first-round pick played in 54 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City and slashed .282/.354/.493 with an .847 OPS, eight home runs, 39 RBI and 33 runs scored over 237 plate appearances. Dahl was an All-Star with the Colorado Rockies in 2019 when he hit .302 with 15 home runs, but he only played in 100 games that season and couldn't capitalize on his talent due to injuries. In six major-league seasons, Dahl has only played in 331 games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers signed outfielder David Dahl to a minor-league deal on Tuesday, and he will make his debut for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Dahl stays in the National League West after the San Diego Padres designated him for assignment two weeks ago. He is a career .271/.317/.463 hitter over 331 games in the big leagues, but he has a tough time staying healthy and has slashed .199/.236/.303 in 91 games (328 plate appearances) with the Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers and Padres in the last three seasons. At Triple-A El Paso this year, the 29-year-old left-hander was hitting .265 (18-for-68) with five doubles, a homer and 10 RBI in 17 games. He'll represent outfield depth in LA.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 years agoThe San Diego Padres activated outfielder David Dahl (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and then optioned him to Triple-A El Paso. Dahl will most likely be back on the big-league roster at some point in 2023 if injuries strike, but for now he'll bide his time on the farm. The 29-year-old oft-injured outfielder has played in just four games for the Friars so far this season, going 1-for-9 with a solo home run and two strikeouts. He's played in only five games for El Paso, going 7-for-26 (.269) with a double, home run, four RBI and four runs scored. Dahl remains well off the fantasy radar for now as organizational outfield depth in San Diego.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder David Dahl is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. Dahl and Jose Azocar are getting a breather after an off day for San Diego on Wednesday. The 29-year-old left-handed hitter hit well in spring training but is off to a rough start at the plate in his first four regular season games, going 1-for-9 (.111) with a solo home run and two strikeouts. With Dahl starting on the bench, Rougned Odor will get the start in right field for the Friars and hit eighth in the batting order against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Odor, also a left-handed hitter, has gone 1-for-7 with a double and a walk in his first three games for the Padres. He has some pop from the left side, but he'll have little DFS upside in the eight-hole against a tough pitcher.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
