Daniel Murphy 2019 Outlook: Expect 25 Homers In The Mile-High City?
6 years agoOff-season knee surgery hampered Daniel Murphy for much of 2018, as he played in fewer than 100 games for just the second time in his career. Now that he is a full season removed from surgery and with his move to Colorado, Murphy could be an underrated sleeper in 2019. Murphy finished the year with 12 home runs but was on pace for 22 over the course of a full season. He has recorded a double-digit HR/FB rate for three straight seasons now, and there are no indications that owners should expect that trend to change in 2019. Now playing in Denver, it’s not too hard to project Murphy as hitting 25 home runs while maintaining around a .300 average. With the potential for 75 to 90 RBI hitting in the Rockies lineup, Murphy could end up as a top-10 second baseman in 2019. Currently, he has an ADP of 160, but owners should consider grabbing him around the 145 to 150 range, if not a little sooner.
