Daniel Jones 2020 Outlook: Improvement Expected For Sophomore Signal Caller
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones experienced the highs and lows of an NFL rookie in 2019, but flashed enough potential to be a sneaky fantasy asset heading into his sophomore campaign. Jones averaged 233 yards per game and threw 24 touchdowns in 13 games (12 starts). He had five games with at least 300 passing yards and three games with at least four touchdowns. Jones was also an asset on the ground averaging 24.5 rushing yards per game. Having a quarterback that adds rushing yards is key for fantasy production and Jones has the athleticism to continue to add fantasy points on the ground which gives him a safer weekly floor. Where Jones struggled as a rookie was turnovers. His 12 interceptions weren't horrendous, but he led the league with 18 fumbles, losing 11. That number needs to come down, but we can expect him to improve with more coaching and experience. The Giants beefed up their offensive line so Jones will hopefully be under less pressure which should help with the fumbles. Jones is currently the 13th QB off the board in fantasy drafts but has the potential to finish much higher. He should be a target of anyone who prefers to wait on quarterback as he offers tremendous upside at pick number 85 on average.
