Damien Williams Stock Drops With McCoy Signing
5 years agoIn the last 200 drafts on NFBC, the stock of Kansas City running back Damien Williams had reached peak-hype, with a 22 ADP, as the #12 running back being taken, sandwiched right between Joe Mixon and Leonard Fournette. That number may drop after the Chiefs signed the recently cut LeSean McCoy to a one-year contract, with $3 Million guaranteed on Saturday night. The move doesn't show a lot of confidence in the 27-year-old Williams, who started the Chiefs last three games last year and has never started more than four games in a season. The Chiefs already had Carlos Hyde to backup Williams but still felt they needed an upgrade, trading Hyde to Houston on Saturday morning, before signing McCoy that night. While Williams is still the starter in Andy Reid's running back-friendly, high-powered offense and still an RB2, the McCoy signing certainly makes it harder to invest a second or third-round pick in the first-year starter.
