Damian Lillard Turns Slow Start Into A 41-Point Performance
2 years agoPortland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard got off to a rough start against Orlando on Sunday, but still ended up crushing it in a 122-119 victory, leading all scorers with 41 points. Dame had only 14 points in the first half and bricked all of his six attempts from deep, but he had a 4-for-16 record from downtown in the end and notched himself another 40-point outing with 10-for-25 overall shooting from the field and a 17-for-20 effort at the line. It was an inefficient shooting performance from Lillard, but he made up for it with nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block. Portland's superstar continues to be in beast mode and is averaging 42.4 points since the All-Star break. Anfernee Simons (ankle) has been unavailable for five of the last six games, which puts the ball even more in Lillard's hands and something very special could be coming up from him again Monday against the Pistons, who are among the NBA's worst defensive teams.
