Dallas Goedert 2019 Outlook: An Increased Role In His Second Season
6 years agoIt’s not often that an NFL team can maintain multiple fantasy-relevant tight ends, but the Philadelphia Eagles could be added to that short list in 2019. Everyone knows about Zach Ertz, who should once again finish as a top-three fantasy tight end, but Dallas Goedert has a chance to put up solid numbers in his second NFL season. Last year, Goedert caught 33 passes for 334 yards and four touchdowns. Goedert’s likely to see an increase in snaps this season as the Eagles try to get both him and Ertz on the field together more, and his receiving skills give him a good shot to make the most of his time on the field. It wouldn’t be a shock to see Goedert somewhere in the 500-yard range with six or seven touchdowns, numbers that aren’t going to put him at the top of the tight end position, but do make him a solid streaming option for fantasy owners. Of course, so much depends on the health of quarterback Carson Wentz, whose injury track record is concerning, especially with the team no longer having backup quarterback Nick Foles to keep the offense running. There’s plenty of risk to Goedert and not the top-level upside of some other tight ends, but he should provide fantasy owners with solid production and a decent weekly floor.
