Chris Paddack Takes One On The Chin
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack suffered his second consecutive loss, allowing five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 23-year-old rookie yielded eight hits including five extra-base knocks while striking out four. Paddack was yanked after letting two runners on in the fifth and the bullpen promptly served up a grand slam to seal his fate. Despite the rough stretch, Paddack still sits with a 2.97 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 through 11 starts this season. While he’s been mostly great, Paddack’s expected stats suggested an eventual downturn and now his actual and expected numbers align much closer. He should still be a solid fantasy option Sunday against the Washington Nationals.
