Chris Godwin 2019 Outlook: A Receiver on the Rise?
6 years agoChris Godwin was somewhat of a breakout performer in 2018, as he came out of the gates with scores in his first three games. After the hype continued to swell, his play on the field started to deflate, as he only had three other games that you would consider start-worthy through the remainder of the year. However, that Buccaneers offense had a lot of mouths to feed last year, but two of those mouths in DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries have moved to pastures new. As things get going for the 2019 season, Godwin finds himself as one of the most talked about names in regards to potential sleepers. Yes, there is some excitement with the Bruce Arians offense in town, but Godwin must improve his consistency to be worthy of his WR20 ADP. He will face the 18th ranked schedule for receivers and not mention will be fighting for targets with Mike Evans and O.J. Howard. Therefore, I say pump the brakes on the hype for Godwin. He has a WR2 ceiling in any format, but with the up and down play you see from him he most likely brings you WR3 value.
