Chigoziem Okonkwo 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: TE2 Flier Seeking Consistent Role
3 months agoTennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo has flashed talent but struggled to consistently generate fantasy value, a trend that likely follows him into 2024. Okonkwo finished last season with 54 receptions, the 15th most by a TE, but his fantasy value was lacking with 528 yards and one touchdown. Despite earning a healthy 16.1% team target share, a top-12 mark for TEs, only six looks came in the red zone. Tennessee no longer has Derrick Henry around to command the lion's share of red-zone looks, but upgrading to Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd around DeAndre Hopkins cannot be ignored. Plus, Tony Pollard is a year removed from his broken leg while Tyjae Spears has immense potential, with both being passing-game threats for Will Levis. While Okonkwo should remain involved on passing downs, Josh Whyle is listed as a co-starter on the depth chart. Whyle's 79.0 pass-blocking grade on PFF ranked 11th out of 124 TEs while Okonkwo's 63.9 mark was 68th, though Whyle was a bottom-five run blocker. All in all, Okonkwo is unlikely to match last year's 16% target share but could have better red-zone luck. As RotoBaller's TE27 in half-PPR ranks, most drafters can leave him to waivers for now.
