Chase Elliott Will Be A Threat To Win At The Charlotte Roval This Week
2 months agoAfter qualifying for Sunday's Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval Course, Chase Elliott will begin the race from the seventh position, his highest at the site since 2020. In six starts at the Roval, Elliott is the Cup Series only two-time winner at the site and placed 12th or better five times. Elliott led multiple laps in five events while scoring a Driver Rating of over 100 in five of his six appearances at the site. Through 31 races so far in 2024, Elliott has one win, 15 top-10 finishes, and has the best average finish of all full-time drivers of 11.9. At road and street courses this season, Elliott has three top-20 finishes, including a finish of fourth at Sonoma, where he also led three laps. In first practice, Elliott ranked fourth in five consecutive lap averages and had the fastest 10 consecutive lap averages, while in final practice, he ranked second in overall lap averages and had the fastest five consecutive lap averages. The Charlotte Roval is one of Elliott's best tracks statistically, and considering his top-notch practice speeds, expect the No. 9 Chevrolet driver to be in the hunt for the win this week.
