Casey Mize Avoids Injury
Casey Mize (leg) exited his start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday with what appeared to be a leg injury. It turns out the Tigers removed Mize because of cramping, manager A.J. Hinch said. Expectations are that Mize will make his next scheduled start Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. Before exiting a 9-3 win over the Rays, Mize threw five innings of one-run ball with six hits allowed and five strikeouts against no walks. It was the latest solid performance for the former No. 1 overall pick, who has gone 7-2 and amassed 72 innings of 2.88 ERA pitching with 64:18 K:BB and a 1.24 WHIP.
