Buffalo Sabres forward Casey Mittelstadt has been ruled out indefinitely after he underwent lower-body surgery. It's a big blow for the 23-year-old, who had just returned to the lineup following a lengthy absence, but the team hopes to get him back before the end of the season. Mittelstadt has skated in just four games this season, recording one goal with seven shots, three blocks and a minus-six rating. He's been centering the second line and Dylan Cozens now takes over the job on Friday against the Rangers. He's on seven goals and seven assists for the season in 25 games.--Taavi Pailk
