Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Casey DeSmith failed to beat the Washington Capitals in his fifth start of the season on Wednesday, finishing a 2-1 loss with 20 saves and a .909 save percentage. The Pens are slumping, having lost five straight for the first time since December 2015, and DeSmith couldn't get them back on the right track. However, it wasn't a bad performance by him, and with Matt Murray struggling, there should be more starts on the horizon for DeSmith after general manager Jim Rutherford openly criticized his team's goaltending. DeSmith has a 2-1-2 record for the season with a 2.22 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
