Carson Williams 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Boom Or Bust Pick Worth Gambling On
Carson Williams started last year as the Rays' number one prospect. He ended it as the Rays' starting shortstop. Williams has every chance of being the starting shortstop for Tampa Bay throughout 2026, given his main competition is Taylor Walls and his .195/.286/.298 career slash line. If Williams does secure the starting role, he could become the new poster child of "three true outcomes". Before his promotion last year, Williams played 111 games at the Triple-A level. He hit .213/.318/.447 with 23 home runs and 22 stolen bases. Williams' 34.1% K% and 12.4% BB% were similar to what he had at each stop in the Minor Leagues and give us an indication of what to expect in the Majors. Williams' 32 games at the Major League level were what we expected. He homered five times but only hit .172/.219/.354. Williams also had a 41.5% K% and 5.7% BB%. It's too small a sample to really judge what Williams can do. However, his Minor League numbers also suggest he's an 'all-or-nothing' hitter. Williams may spend most of this year in the Minors. But we could see a 20/20 season in Tampa Bay for the cost of a last-round draft pick.
