Carson Wentz 2020 Outlook: Questions Starting to Pile Up
5 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has shown elite QB1 play on several occasions throughout his career. He has yet to put together a full season of that kind of play, however. He ended 2019 on a significant hot streak despite not having any real weapons on offense, and that's the kind of quarterback he was drafted to be. If Wentz can continue that level of play and lift up the offensive players around him, he should be in for a fantastic, possibly even elite, 2020 season. DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery will return, presumably finally healthy, and the Eagles added three exciting wide receivers in the draft for Wentz to throw to. The team has already stated that they plan to throw the ball more often and work on deeper throws, so Wentz's upside is definitely exciting for the upcoming season. He still has injury concerns, as witnessed by the Eagles drafting quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round, but if he can stay on the field, 2020 should be the season where Wentz lives up to the fact that he was taken second overall in the draft four years ago.
