Carlos Gomez Returns And Then Homers Friday Versus Seattle
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Carlos Gomez returned to action Friday against the Mariners after missing Thursday's game with an aggravated groin. He would record only one hit by it was his seventh HR of the season, a solo shot. The HR would open the scoring the Rays after falling down 3-0. Gomez was a superstar back in 2013 and 2014. In those two seasons, he combined for 47 home runs and 74 steals with a .284 average in both seasons. He has since struggled and has not played more than 118 games in any of the past three seasons while playing for three teams. Gomez still has some upside to become relevant in non-shallow, as he was on pace for 20 home runs and 12 steals before the injury a few weeks ago, but he needs to raise his .194 batting average.
