With the 14th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, the Chicago Cubs selected third baseman Cam Smith out of the University of South Carolina. Smith, 21, had a huge year for the Seminoles in 2024 with a .387 batting average to go along with 16 homers and 57 RBI. The third baseman stands tall at 6'3, 224-pounds and carries plenty of strength with him to his new home in Chicago. Smith has worked on improving his plate discipline throughout his career and cut down 10% from his freshman to sophomore season. Already an above-average defender, Smith will need to continue to mature at the plate to make his debut in Chicago down the road.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
