Caleb Williams Rebounds After Slow Start Against Chiefs
Caleb Williams completed 11 of 15 pass attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 29-27 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs. Williams also added 18 yards on the ground. The Bears' first two drives were ugly, with a botched exchange, a costly sack, and a false start. After a slow start, Williams was able to drive the first-team offense down the field on his two final drives, with the final one ending with wide receiver Rome Odunze snagging a three-yard touchdown with 31 seconds to go until the end of the first half. The second-year quarterback finished his preseason, going 17-of-25 for 220 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, in just six drives. Williams has looked good in his first game reps under new head coach Ben Johnson, but sputtered against the Chiefs' first-team defense. We will see the former first-overall pick in action in Week 1 when the Bears host the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.
