According to Chris Johnston of The Athletic, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (illness) is trending towards playing on Saturday evening against Team USA. Head coach Jon Cooper noted that he is "confident" the star defenseman will suit up. Makar was unable to practice on Friday due to an illness but is in a good position to enter the lineup. If Makar faces a setback before puck drop, Dallas Stars defenseman Thomas Harley will draw into the starting lineup. During their opening game against Team Sweden, Makar did not get on the scoresheet but tallied two shots and three blocked shots. If Makar could not play, DFS managers should expect Winnipeg's Josh Morrissey to be the top candidate to replace Makar on the team's top power-play unit.--Andy Smith
