Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Cal Petersen has cleared waivers, paving a path for a demotion to the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The 29-year-old started Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins but was shelled for seven goals on 32 shots (.781 save percentage) while taking the loss. It was just the fifth appearance (fourth start) of the season in the NHL for the former Los Angeles Kings netminder as he sports a 3.90 goals-against average and an .864 save percentage, going 2-2-0 in the process. He has posted a 3.26 GAA and .890 Sv% across 15 games with the Phantoms, as well. Once a highly-regarded netminder, Petersen scuffled to a 3.75 GAA and .868 Sv% in 10 games with the Kings last season while spending the majority of the campaign with the AHL's Ontario Reign.--Brenton Kemp
