Cade Cavalli 2023 MLB Player Outlook: Out For The Season Due To TJ Surgery
One of the marquee prospects in the Washington Nationals organization, Cade Cavalli (elbow), is poised to play a vital role in the Nats rotation over the next couple of years. The 24-year-old made the first step by making his pro debut last season which turned out to be a hitter-friendly start. He then succumbed to shoulder inflammation in late August, which caused him to miss the remainder of the season. As of recent news, the 24-year-old will undergo Tommy John surgery due to a Grade 3 UCL Sprain and will miss the entire 2023 season. The Oklahoma native was projected to be the fifth starter in the Nats rotation but unfortunately succumbed to yet another devastating injury. In 2022, Cavalli made 20 starts in Triple-A Rochester and molded a 3.71 ERA, 1.175 WHIP, and 104 punchouts. He also fostered a 26.1% strikeout rate with a 3.80 FIP. Washinton's top pitching prospect is indefinitely out for the season, which means that he should only be stashed in dynasty leagues.
