Byron Buxton 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Elite Production When Healthy
Byron Buxton finally delivered on his massive upside in 2025, slashing .264/.327/.551 with 35 home runs, 83 RBI, 97 runs, and 24 stolen bases in 126 games. The fact that he did all of that in only 126 games is even more impressive, but it also speaks volumes that 126 games was considered a "healthy" season for the centerfielder. It was the most games in a year for him since 2017, as he has consistently been one of the most injury-prone players in the league. If the 32-year-old did play 150 or more games, he would be a first-round talent for fantasy, as he posted elite metrics in speed (100th percentile sprint speed) and power (96th percentile hard-hit rate). However, the unlikelihood of a full season has his ADP at 75th overall, making him the 17th-best outfielder drafted. It's impossible to predict what injuries could happen and when, and drafting Buxton is all about weighing risk and reward. In deep 15-team leagues that start five outfielders, losing one of your first five picks for the majority of the season could be a hole that's hard to dig yourself out of. However, in shallower leagues that start three outfielders, the risk isn't nearly as much as the league-winning upside he provides.
