Burch Smith Takes No-Decision In First Start
6 years agoKansas City Royals pitcher Burch Smith made his first major league start in five years on Wednesday, and he was rewarded by watching his bullpen blow a lead. After 3 1/3 innings for Smith, he exited the game with two runners on so reliever Glenn Sparkman could work out of the jam. Instead, Sparkman allowed a double and three runs to score after slinging a ball down the right field line on an errant throw to first. Smith has recently been lights out in relief, so it's expected that he'll continue to get some more starts in the future. No one should expect him to go very deep into games at the moment though.
