Brian Ortega picked up his first win since October of 2020 as he submitted Yair Rodriguez in the third round in the co-main event of UFC Mexico City. Ortega struggled early on as he was outstruck 50-to-7 in the first round, but did start to take over after a rough five minutes. The American outstruck Rodriguez in the second round, and Ortega got the Mexican down early in the third round and sunk in a submission win. With the win, Ortega improved to 16-3 and one No Contest in the UFC and could get a title shot next time out.--Cole Shelton
