Brian Goodwin Has Strong KC Debut
Newly acquired Kansas City Royals outfielder Brian Goodwin got his first taste of action in the blue and white on Monday, and he came through with a pair of singles in his two at-bats. The team traded for the 27-year-old on Sunday in hopes that he may be their shot-in-the-dark answer at center field for the future. With Paulo Orlando clearly past his "prime" and Rosell Herrera looking promising but not world-beating, the team took a waiver on Goodwin, a former first-round pick. Goodwin can provide a power/speed combo, and he should see a plethora of starts for the Royals as the team uses it as a bit of an audition for next season. He's worth a flyer in deep leagues, and if he hits, he could be fantasy relevant everywhere in no time.
