Brendan Rodgers Is Flying High
6 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers is looking like a bona fide major leaguer at this point, hitting .308 after his first seven games in the big leagues. Unfortunately, some underlying numbers like a BABIP of .500 and a strikeout rate of 38.5% could spell trouble on the horizon. The good news is that Statcast shows that Rodgers is spreading the ball all over the field, happily going the other way with breaking pitches away. Hopefully, he can start to barrel up some pitches and show off the prodigious power he's had elsewhere in the minor league system, and if he can cut down on the strikeouts, he could easily run away with the second base job. The game is about adjustments, so it looks like Rodgers is going to be tested soon enough.
