Braden Montgomery with Another Multi-Hit Game at High-A
Braden Montgomery went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base on Wednesday for High-A Winston-Salem. It's his third multi-hit effort in his last four contests, and he is 20-for-57 (.351) over his last 21 games, including two doubles, two triples, and three home runs. For the season, the 2024 first-rounder is slashing .280/.359/.480 with 10 home runs and nine steals between Single-A and High-A. While his walk rate at High-A has dropped more than two percentage points, it is still above average at 9.4 percent, and his strikeout rate has improved almost two percentage points, sitting at a slightly better than average 20.7 percent. With other 2024 first-rounders getting moved along quickly, some even in the big leagues already, it wouldn't be surprising to see Montgomery progress to Double-A before long. The 22-year-old has the likes of aging veterans Mike Tauchman and Michael A. Taylor in front of him at the big league level, so a 2026 debut is possible, especially with the 60-grade power and some strikeout concerns presumably behind him.
