11 months agoSan Diego Padres catcher Austin Hedges went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hedges’ second blast of the season traveled 449 feet and he’s now slashing .214/.313/.429 with six RBI. The defense-first backstop is fulfilling his primary mandate in mentoring the Friars young pitching staff and has been serviceable on offense. With catcher Francisco Mejia hitting just .190, Hedges should continue receiving the bulk of starts behind the dish. While he’ll demonstrate the occasional pop, Hedges is a replacement-level fantasy option for a weak position.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
