Austin Dillon Impresses With Sixth-Place Qualifying Effort At Richmond
4 months agoOne driver that has struggled mightily this season is Austin Dillon, as the Richard Childress Racing driver currently has the worst average finish in his Cup Series career, currently sitting at 24.5 after 22 races this season. That's why it was a bit surprising that Dillon made it to the second round of qualifying at Richmond Raceway on Saturday, especially considering he hasn't qualified inside the top 10 at a non-superspeedway track this year. However, Richmond has always been a bright spot for Austin, as it ranks as his sixth-best track on the schedule, and over the last 11 races he's finished 11th or better seven times. Given his track history, Dillon may be able to accomplish another top-15 finish in Sunday night's Cook Out 400, but it's nowhere near a guarantee, as the RCR Chevrolets have struggled to find speed all season. While Dillon remains a dark horse contender for a top-10 finish, though, you should severely limit your DFS exposure to him due to his high starting position.
