Astros Release Former Top Prospect Jon Singleton
7 years agoHouston Astros first base prospect Jon Singleton has been released. Singleton, a former top prospect in the Astros' system, is still serving a 100-game suspension issued to him in January for a third instance of drug abuse. Singleton played 114 games between 2014 and 2015 and hit 14 home runs to go along with a .171 batting average. He also struck out an absurd 36 percent of the time. Singleton is finishing up a five-year, $10 million deal signed in 2014 shortly after his major league debut.
