Anthony Rizzo 2022 Player Outlook: An Uninspiring Fantasy First Baseman
3 years agoThings have been declining in Rizzo's fantasy profile for a few years now. His maximum home run output since 2017 is just 27 homers, and he has slashed just .240/.343/.432 since the 2020 season. He was traded to the Yankees during the Cubs fire sale in 2021, but he didn't seem to benefit from the ballpark improvement in his short time there, hitting just eight homers in 200 plate appearances after the trade. He still did not strikeout in 2021 (15.1% K%), but his walk rate came down a career-worst 9%. All of this leaves Rizzo as a lackluster first base option in 2022. The price has come down to match it (ADP 176), and there is some hope that Yankees Stadium will pay dividends for him moving forward, but your fantasy team will do just fine without Rizzo on it this year.
