Anthony Bass Likely The Marlins Closer
Anthony Bass is "the very likely closer" for the Marlins this season, according to the Miami Herald's Craig Mish. The Marlins were hoping to re-sign Brandon Kintzler, who saved 12 games last season, but he went to the Phillies on a minor league deal. Bass signed a two-year, $5 million deal with the Marlins earlier this offseason after posting a 3.51 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP with Toronto last season, recording seven saves. He doesn't have the typical swing-and-miss stuff that many closers have, but he should be solid enough to carve out some mixed league value if he does indeed win the ninth inning role.
