Alvin Kamara 2020 Outlook: Star Runner Looks To Bounce Back
5 years agoIn 2019, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara struggled through the least-productive NFL season of his three-year career. Kamara finished the year with 171 rushes for 797 yards and five touchdowns while adding 81 receptions for 533 yards and another TD through the air. While he only wound up missing two games, Kamara played through knee and ankle injuries which sapped him of his usual explosiveness, as evidenced by him only averaging 6.6 yards per reception, down from a career mark of 8.5. The Saints brought back veteran quarterback Drew Brees for another season, which bodes well for Kamara as Brees has traditionally peppered his running backs with targets. Kamara has caught exactly 81 passes in all three of his NFL seasons and remains an elite fantasy running back, especially in PPR formats. He will cost a first-round pick in 2020 drafts but he has the potential to finish as the overall RB1 in fantasy if he can stay healthy. Kamara is worth targeting after Christian McCaffrey, Ezekiel Elliott, and Saquon Barkley come off the board in fantasy drafts.
