Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler will start the season on the first defensive pairing and will also be the quarterback of the first power-play unit. Edler played in the exact role last year, putting up one of his better seasons with 34 points in 70 games. While his +/- will be a problem again for fantasy owners, his ability to collect shots, hits, blocks, and power-play points will be unmatched by defenseman ranked outside the top 100. Not to mention, the power play unit will be considerably improved with the addition of Elias Pettersson. Edler should be owned in all formats, especially ones that count peripherals.--Caden
