Alex Dickerson 2020 Outlook: Looking To Put Injury Woes Behind Him In 2020
5 years agoA midseason trade from San Diego to San Francisco opened the playing time doors for Alex Dickerson in 2019, where he prospered in his new uniform. In 56 games for the Giants, he slashed .290/.351/.529 with six homers, 28 runs, and 26 RBI, enabling the club to re-sign him to a one-year deal for 2020 as their primary left fielder. A series of injuries forced Dickerson to miss two entire seasons with his last appearance in the majors coming in an 84-game 2016 season with the Padres. The 29-year-old shook off the rust posting a terrific 9.0% Barrel%, and 43.6% Hard Hit%, both numbers well above the league average in his abbreviated sample. Dickerson’s home park will do him no favors as a left-handed swinger, but he will bat in the middle third of the Giants order where he could provide a sneaky source to RBI production. He could wind up sitting against the majority of southpaws, which could bode well for his year-end batting average, but should otherwise receive enough playing time to warrant a roster spot in NL-only leagues. There’s no reason to force him onto mixed-league squads with his 635 ADP, but don’t be surprised if he becomes a popular waiver wire add during the season.
