Alec Bohm Selected Third Overall by Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have selected Alec Bohm with the third overall pick in the MLB amateur draft out of Wichita State University. Bohm is either a third baseman or first baseman and has some of the best power in the draft. At 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, there are questions about whether he can play third base. Bohm projects to be a heavy power hitter and has drawn comparisons to Joey Gallo. He racked up 16 home runs, 55 RBI and a .625 slugging percentage this season. On top of the power, Bohm has great patience and can still hit for average at the MLB level.
