Adrian Kempe Gives Kings Special Teams Spark in Win
5 years agoLos Angeles Kings forward Adrian Kempe picked up a short-handed goal and a power-play assist on Tuesday night's 5-3 win over the Flyers. Kempe's two points came on two of the four goals that the Kings scored either on the power play or penalty kill. Anze Kopitar also picked up a pair of power-play assists on goals from Alex Iafallo and Tyler Toffoli, which were part of a four-goal first period that ended with Philadelphia goaltender Brian Elliott being pulled from the game. Kempe now has six points in his last seven games, but only 17 points on the season. This may be a case of a former first-round pick finally putting it together at the NHL level, but at this point, it should be treated as just a hot streak. Kempe can be left on the waiver wire as long as he is stationed outside of the top line.
