A.J. Pollock 2019 Outlook: Can he stay healthy in 2019?
6 years agoIt was another year of injury for Pollock in 2018, as he appeared in fewer than 150 games for the third-straight season. When Pollock is on the field he has shown the ability to be a fantasy powerhouse, as shown in 2018 when he hit a career-high 21 home runs with 13 steals and a .257 average over 113 games. But staying healthy is the big issue for the 31-year-old, as he has missed over 300 games over the last five seasons — including two seasons where he played in less than 100 games. Pollock signed a four-year $55 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers this offseason. He immediately slots in at leadoff for a good offense. The favorable environment will help Pollock reach his upside, assuming health. If fantasy owners draft Pollock with the mindset of getting 15 home runs and 15 steals and a .260 average out of him, they shouldn’t be too disappointed if he misses a third of the season again. Pollock currently has an ADP of 116, which is low considering his role with the new club and supporting cast. His upside is why RotoBaller staff has him ranked at 79. So, owners that are cautious and want to wait can still acquire value compared to his ADP.
