Mitch Haniger Will Be A Breakout Candidate If Healthy
7 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger played in 96 games in 2017, slashing .282/.352/.491 with 16 home runs, 25 doubles, 47 runs batted in and 58 runs scored. Haniger got off to a hot start to begin the year, hitting .342 with four home runs while driving in 16 runs in 79 April at-bats. It was his first real chance at the big league level and he seized the opportunity. Then a wrist injury completely derailed his season and he suffered some setbacks in his rehab attempts. When he returned to the lineup Haniger simply wasn't the same hitter. He did, however, show some glimpses of regaining his power stroke in the final month of the season. In 115 September plate appearances, Haniger hit .365 with seven home runs, eight doubles, 14 runs batted in and a robust slugging percentage of .635. A healthy, full season from Haniger could produce 20-25 home runs and 25-30 doubles and he could be a breakout candidate in fantasy. He is a late-round gem worth considering in most leagues.
