2 mins agoOakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Houston Astros. It appears to be a regular rest day for the hard-hitting 29-year-old. Rooker has enjoyed a nice season thus far for the Athletics as evidenced by his .286/.368/.565 slash line. He has also tallied 11 home runs, 34 RBI, 23 runs scored and two stolen bases across 41 games. Kyle McCann will draw into the lineup in Rooker's absence and bat seventh against Astros right-hander Ronel Blanco. McCann has shown some promise in limited at-bats this season with three homers and a .346 average across 21 games.Source: MLB.com
55 mins agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) left Sunday's game in the first inning with left knee soreness, which was confirmed by the Atlanta Braves. Acuna attempted to steal third base but had to make a hard pivot back to second base. As a result he fell down in pain in the infield. He was able to walk to the dugout on his power but had to take several pauses. Fantasy managers will have to wait until Sunday night when the team returns to Atlanta to undergo any further testing. Acuna was named the 2023 NL MVP in unanimous fashion as he posted a .337/.416/.596 line with 41 home runs and 73 stolen bases. If the 26-year-old were to miss any extended time, Adam Duvall should be the favorite to see the majority of starts in right field.Source: Atlanta Braves
1 hour agoPittsburgh Pirates catcher Joey Bart (thumb) left Sunday's game with an apparent injury to his left thumb. As a result, Yasmani Grandal entered the game as his replacement. Bart has performed quite well in his new home in the City of Bridges with a strong .267/.362/.517 line with four long balls and 12 RBI through 21 games. If Bart were to miss any long period of time with this injury, Grandal should be expected to receive the majority of starts behind the dish. Grandal has posted a .212/.226/.385 line with two home runs in his first 16 games as a Pirate and could be worth a look in NL-only formats if he has to serve as the primary backstop for an extended period of time.Source: Pittsburgh Pirates
1 hour agoSan Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano is not in Sunday's lineup as the Padres hope to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees. Campusano has started the first two games of the series and has gone 0-7 at the plate with two walks. As a result, Kyle Higashioka will have an opportunity to get some revenge against his former team on Sunday. He enters this game holding a poor .140/.140/.256 line with just one home run and six total hits through 15 games. He is best to avoid in DFS as he will face Clarke Schmidt, who has posted a stellar 0.92 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 4:20 BB:K ratio in his previous three starts.Source: San Diego Padrers
1 hour agoFree Agent starting pitcher Brad Keller was signed by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, May 26. Zack Kelly was optioned to Triple-A Worcester in the corresponding move. Keller opened the season with the Chicago White Sox primarily in a long relief role but did make two starts. Through his two starts, he posted a hefty 8.32 ERA and 1.73 WHIP. As a reliever, he looked much better as he tossed eight innings to the tune of a 1.13 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. The 28-year-old should be expected to be in a similar role in Boston, as the Red Sox rotation currently has five designated starters. Keller could be worth adding if he makes spot starts during the summer in AL-only formats in the right matchup but should usually be left on all waiver wires as his projected role will not provide him much fantasy value.Source: Pete Abraham
2 hours agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) left Sunday's game early, suffering an apparent non-contact injury on his left knee. Acuna knocked a leadoff double and attempted to swipe third but had to take a hard pivot back to second base. Due to this, he went down in the infield in clear pain and even pointed toward his left knee. He was able to walk off the field on his power but had to pause several times before reaching the dugout. Acuna won the NL MVP Award last season with an incredible 41 long balls and 73 stolen bases. He has been off to a slow start this season with just four home runs and a .246 AVG. Currently, there is not any information on the severity of the injury, but if Acuna were to miss time, Adam Duvall would see the majority of starts in right field.Source: Fox Sports
2 hours agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) has resumed all baseball activities and is scheduled to run the bases on Sunday, May 26. This is a great sign, as Hayes could be nearing a rehab assignment in the coming weeks. He has been on the injured list since May 11 with a back issue. After running the bases, the former first-round selection will discuss the next steps with manager Derek Shelton. Hayes posted a .240/.322/.318 line with one home run and a 15:24 BB:K ratio through the first 34 games of this season. When he returns from the 10-day injured list, Hayes should be expected to man the hot corner on a daily basis in the Steel City.Source: Pittsburgh Pirates
2 hours agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (ribs) is reportedly on track to start swinging a bat next week. The 24-year-old has been sidelined since April 20 with a fracture and cartilage tear in his left ribcage. It is a tricky injury to recover from, but picking up a bat is a very positive sign. Casas is not eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until June 21 and will likely need a few appearances in the minor leagues before activation. Despite the extended absence, Casas is still worth holding in the majority of fantasy formats due to his prospect pedigree and raw power potential. He also remains a high-end asset in any dynasty formats.Source: Gabrielle Starr
2 hours agoSan Francisco Giants starter Blake Snell (personal) was reinstated from the paternity list on Sunday afternoon. The 31-year-old is reportedly still awaiting the birth of his baby but will return to the team to start Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. It is possible that he goes back on the paternity list after the game. Snell has endured a rocky start to his first season with the Giants as he's posted an 0-3 record to go along with a bloated 11.40 ERA, 2.07 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB through four starts. It is tough to trust last year's Cy Young winner right now, especially against a powerful Phillies offense.Source: Alex Pavlovic
2 hours agoNew York Mets pitcher David Peterson (hip) is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Peterson has not pitched in the majors yet this year as he was recovering from offseason hip surgery. The 28-year-old looked solid during his rehab stint where he made six starts across three different levels of the minor leagues. While that was encouraging, Peterson posted a dismal 3-8 record to go along with a 5.03 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 128:50 K:BB across 27 appearances in 2023. He may eventually offer some streaming upside to fantasy managers but it will not come on Wednesday against the potent Dodgers offense.Source: Will Sammon
2 hours agoColorado Rockies outfielder Jordan Beck (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday afternoon with a left-hand fracture. Beck suffered the injury on Saturday night while attempting to make a diving catch against the Philadelphia Phillies. There is no definitive timeline for his return. Beck had been struggling at the major-league level at the time of his injury as evidenced by his .190 average and bloated 37% K%. Outfielder Sean Bouchard was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque and will start in left field against the Phillies on Sunday. Bouchard has had modest success across 66 MLB games in his career, but he is better off being left on the waiver wire for the time being.Source: Rockies Club Information
2 hours agoKansas City Royals second baseman Michael Massey (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday afternoon. The 26-year-old injured his back on Friday night and did not play on Saturday. Nick Loftin was recalled from Triple-A Omaha as a corresponding move. It is an unfortunate injury for Massey as he was swinging a hot bat over the past two weeks. Veteran infielder Adam Frazier is starting at second base and batting sixth on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Frazier will likely see the majority of playing time against right-handed pitching while Garrett Hampson or the aforementioned Loftin could draw in against lefties. None of those options are all that attractive for fantasy purposes.Source: Kansas City Royals
2 hours agoHouston Astros right-hander Ronel Blanco (suspension) will start Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics. Blanco was reinstated to the team's active roster on Sunday morning after serving a 10-game suspension for using a foreign substance on the mound. Blanco has been a surprising bright spot for fantasy managers as he owns a 2.09 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 45:21 K:BB across eight starts this season. The 30-year-old should be able to pick back up where he left off in an attractive fantasy matchup on Sunday.Source: MLB.com
3 hours agoTexas Rangers right-hander Gerson Garabito was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and will start Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The 28-year-old has never appeared in the majors before. Garabito has pitched well in Triple-A this season as he owns a 2.05 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB across 26 1/3 innings. It is unlikely that Garabito will stick in the rotation for long and the Twins do not offer the most attractive streaming spot. At this point, it is safe to ignore Garabito in the vast majority of fantasy formats.Source: Texas Rangers PR
3 hours agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. It appears to be a regular rest day for the 30-year-old as he has started each of the last five games. Willi Castro will take over duties in center field and bat second against Rangers right-hander Gerson Garabito. Castro is a budget DFS option for Sunday's slate as he is slashing .261/.393/.435 with one home run, two RBI and a stolen base over his last seven games.Source: MLB.com
