Nomar Mazara Looks To Live Up To Hype
7 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara enters 2018 an ideal post-hype sleeper. Mazara failed to meet lofty expectations in his sophomore season, and his production was depressed by a disastrous final month of the season in which he posted a .228/.276/.380 and struck out in over a quarter of the time. Mazara also struggled against lefties, managing just 1 of his home runs and 8 total extra base hits in 123 at-bats. But despite those issues, his overall line on the season looked pretty good and was buoyed by success against righties, an increase in walk rate, improved contact rates, and way more fly balls. At worst, Mazara is a useful platoon bat that will pay dividends if deployed against righties. The 23-year old is entering just his third season, and his current ADP of 211th overall is so low that owners will be have the opportunity to grab him a couple of rounds early and still return great value, even if you only deploy him against right-handed pitching.
