ANALYSIS: The Houston Astros made a splash in the trade market yesterday by acquiring left-handed starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi from Toronto. Houston had to send three prospects back to the Blue Jays in return, one of which was first baseman/outfielder Joey Loperfido.
Loperfido had played a decent amount for the Astros this season as they were dealing with injuries to both Chas McCormick and Kyle Tucker.

With Tucker still on the shelf, the Astros need another outfielder and are finally calling up Pedro Leon from Triple-A Sugarland. Leon has been at Triple-A for the last two and half seasons where he's shown solid power and speed but struggled to make contact consistently.
After hitting just .228 in 2022 and .244 in 2023, Leon is having his best season in terms of batting average this year at .297. He's slugged 19 home runs while swiping 23 bases in 93 games. He should have the chance to play nearly every day for the time being, so he's worth a look in deeper formats, but managers in standard leagues can probably take a "wait and see" approach on Leon.
