Indianapolis Colts - NFL Betting Analysis

In week 8, the Indianapolis Colts dropped a non-conference matchup against the Commanders by a score of 17-16. With the loss, Indianapolis failed to cover the spread, as they had a -2.5 advantage on the spread. With an over-under betting line of 40, the two teams fell below that figure as they combined for 33. In the game, Indianapolis trailed the Commanders by a score of 7-6 heading into the 4th quarter. Through 8 games, the Colts have an ATS record of 3-5. So far, they have an over-under record of 1-7. This week's betting total of 39.5 is slightly lower than the line in their previous games.

As the Colts prepare to take on New England, they are ranked 30th in points per game at 16.12. Look for the team to put together a strong offensive performance vs a Patriots defense ranked 15th in points per game. This season, Indianapolis has been one of the better passing teams in the league, averaging 251.62 yards per game through the air. Although the Patriots' defense has been able to limit opposing teams in the passing game, Indianapolis should still be able to continue to generate big plays through the pass. On the ground, our projections show that the Colts' offense will have its problems. Even though they have a decent matchup against a New England, look for Indianapolis to come up with fewer rush yards than their season average of 87.75.

New England Patriots - NFL Betting Analysis

Looking back to last week, the Patriots defeated the New York Jets by a score of 22-17. This win was paired with an ATS victory, as they went into the game by -3.0 point favorites. Together, the two teams combined score remained below the over-under betting line of 40. On their way to picking up a 5 point win, New England held a 9 point lead heading into the 4th quarter at 19-10. Through 8 games, the Patriots have an ATS record of 4-3-1. So far, they have an over-under record of 4-4. This week's betting total of 39.5 is slightly lower than the line in their previous games.

Led by quarterback Mac Jones, the team's 17th-ranked scoring offense will need be on top of their game to cover the spread as 5.5 point betting favorites. This season, he has completed 65.9% of his passes, leading an average of 198.6 yards per game in the passing attack. In his last performance, he threw for 194 passing yards and put together a passer rating of 79.94. Against the Patriots, the team will look to get receiver Jakobi Meyers involved in the passing game. This year, he is averaging 7.5 targets per game, leading to an overall receiving yards total of 415.0

Running the ball has been a struggle for this year's team, as they are averaging just 123.12 yards per game on the ground. The team's current leader in rush yards is Rhamondre Stevenson, who is averaging 69.75 yards per game on the ground. For the year, the Patriots have outrushed their opponents in 62.5% of their games.

Today's NFL Betting Pick - Colts vs. Patriots

Indianapolis comes into the game looking to continue their recent success over Indianapolis, as they have a record of 4-1. The over-under record in these games sits at 3-1-1, with the average scoring total coming in at 56.2 points. Last year, Indianapolis and New England played 1 time, with the Colts winning by a score of 27-17. Indianapolis was the betting favorite at -2.0, while the over-under line was 46.5.

The New England Patriots have gone 3-2-0 vs the spread in these games. On average, the Colts have averaged 21.0 points per game in the past 5 head-to-head matchups, compared to New England at 35.2.

Through their 3 most recent regular season matchups, the Colts have gone 1-2. Like their straight up record, Indianapolis struggled vs the spread, going 1-2. Over these games, they put together an over-under record of 1-2.

In their last 3 games away from home, the Colts have a straight up record of 1-2 while going 1-2 vs the spread. The team averaged 7.33 points per game in this stretch.

Over their last 3 regular season games, the Patriots have gone 2-1 straight up. The team has also been excellent vs the spread, going 2-1. Their over-under record in these games was 2-1

In their last 3 games at home, the Patriots have a straight up record of 1-2 while going 1-2 vs the spread. The team averaged 23.0 points per game in this stretch.

Recommended ATS Betting Pick: Patriots -5.5

Recommended OU Betting Pick: Over 39.5
